IT for Finance
Secure Infrastructure for Financial Innovation
In financial services, technology carries real regulatory and reputational weight. We keep yours secure, resilient and ready for scrutiny, so you can grow and look after clients without IT becoming the thing that trips you up at audit.
UNDERSTANDING THE SECTOR
We understand the stakes in financial services
Financial firms sit under a level of scrutiny most businesses never face. The FCA expects sound systems and controls, institutional partners send detailed security questionnaires before they'll work with you, and clients trust you with money and data that has to be kept safe. On top of that, finance is one of the most targeted sectors for cyber attacks. Whether you're an established firm or a fast-growing fintech, your technology has to stand up to all of it.
WHAT TO EXPECT
What does IT support for a financial services firm involve?
The day-to-day part is recognisable enough. Keeping laptops, email and systems working, fixing problems fast, patching and securing everything, and getting new starters productive on day one rather than day three.
What sets financial services apart is that everything has to be provable. The FCA expects sound systems and controls, which means your setup needs to be documented rather than just working. Institutional partners send security questionnaires before they'll trade with you, and those questionnaires ask for evidence, not assurances. Your provider needs to know what a good answer looks like, because a slow or vague response can stall a deal.
Resilience carries more weight here too. Downtime in most businesses costs productivity. In financial services it can mean missed regulatory obligations and difficult conversations with clients, so backup, business continuity and round-the-clock monitoring belong in the baseline rather than in an upgrade path.
So when you're assessing a provider, ask what their own certifications are and get them to walk you through how they'd handle a client infosec questionnaire. The answer to the second question tells you most of what you need to know. We hold ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus ourselves, so we've been on your side of that table.
HOW WE HELP
IT that keeps pace with a regulated, growing business
We take on the running of your technology so it stays stable, secure and properly documented, which matters when someone comes asking how it all works. We handle the everyday support your team needs and the larger moves too, like getting off ageing servers and onto the cloud, or migrating core systems with as little disruption as possible. As you grow, we scale with you rather than becoming the bottleneck. See our managed IT services and cloud enablement.
SECURITY & COMPLIANCE
Security and compliance you can evidence
Passing an infosec review is far easier when the controls are already in place and documented. We help you put in strong protections like multi-factor authentication, email threat filtering, dark web monitoring and staff training, and we help you evidence them when clients or regulators ask. We hold ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus ourselves, so we know what auditors look for and how to get you ready. See cyber protection and compliance.
RESILIENCE
Ready for the day something goes wrong
Downtime in financial services costs you more than productivity. It can mean missed obligations and difficult conversations with clients and regulators. We build in backup and business continuity, and monitor your systems around the clock, so a hardware failure or an attack doesn't stop you trading. If the worst happens, you recover quickly and carry on.
CLIENT STORY
How Novia Global built a trusted IT partnership after going independent
When Novia Global separated from its parent company, it had to stand up its own IT from scratch. We migrated the firm off rented physical servers, moving email and Sage into the cloud with their full archives, and reviewed the market to recommend and install a new telephone system. As the business grew from 9 to 45 people, we stayed close, handling daily support and meeting regularly to plan ahead.

“Over the years, I have been involved in many telephone system migrations and I can say with confidence that this was the smoothest one I have experienced.”

PROOF YOU CAN TRUST
Credentials that stand up to due diligence
We hold ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (UKAS) and Cyber Essentials Plus, we're a Microsoft Solutions Partner, and we're working towards B Corp certification. More than 200 UK businesses trust us with their technology, backed by 24/7 monitoring and an average response time under 30 minutes in business hours. When a client or regulator asks who looks after your IT, these are answers that hold up.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Solutions financial firms rely on most
Most financial services clients build on managed IT services, with cyber protection and compliance at the core for security and audit readiness. Cloud enablement gets you off ageing infrastructure, and our IT helpdesk keeps the team moving day to day. For board-level direction, a fractional CTO helps you make the big technology calls with confidence.
WHERE WE WORK
Supporting financial services firms across the UK
We're based in the South West and work with fintechs and financial services firms right across the UK, from small advisory practices to firms of several hundred people. Most of what we do is delivered remotely, so where you're based makes little difference to how quickly we can help, and we come onsite for office moves, hardware work and the planning conversations that go better in person.
Working across regulated sectors sharpens what we bring you. The evidence a law firm needs for a Lexcel assessment and the controls a charity has to show a funder are cousins of the questionnaire an institutional partner sends you, so we've had plenty of practice at turning a technical setup into an answer someone will accept. COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
What does IT support for a financial services firm involve?
The everyday running of your technology, plus the documentation and controls that let you prove it's sound. That means keeping systems secure and available, evidencing what's in place when a client or regulator asks, and building in the backup and monitoring that a regulated business needs as standard.
Can you help us prepare for security audits and client due diligence?
Yes. We put recognised controls in place and help you evidence them, so infosec questionnaires and audits are far less painful. We're ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and Cyber Essentials Plus certified ourselves.
How quickly can you turn around a client infosec questionnaire?
Usually within a few days, because the answers come from documentation we keep current rather than a scramble each time. Where a questionnaire asks for something you don't yet have, we'll tell you straight and set out what it would take to close the gap.
Do you understand FCA expectations around IT?
We're not compliance consultants, but we understand what the FCA expects of your systems and controls, and we make sure your technology supports rather than undermines your obligations.
Can you help us reach ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials?
Yes. We put the technical controls in place and support you through certification. We hold ISO/IEC 27001:2022 through UKAS and Cyber Essentials Plus ourselves, so we know what an assessor actually wants to see. See cyber protection and compliance.
Can you migrate us to the cloud without disrupting trading?
Yes. We plan migrations carefully and do the bulk of the work with minimal impact on your team, as we did moving Novia Global off physical servers into Microsoft 365.
What are your backup and disaster recovery arrangements?
We back up your systems and data with recovery points and recovery times we agree with you upfront, and we test that the backups restore rather than assuming they will. If a system fails or an attack lands, you know in advance how much data is at risk and how long you'd be down.
We're growing fast. Can you scale with us?
That's where we're at our best. We've supported clients through rapid growth, adding users, sites and systems as they expand without service slipping.
How much does IT support for a financial services firm cost?
It usually works out as a monthly figure per user, shaped around your regulatory obligations and the systems you run rather than a fixed package. A short discovery call will get you an accurate number at no cost.
We already have an IT provider. How difficult is it to switch?
Less difficult than most businesses expect. We take over in stages so nothing goes dark, plan around your calendar, and handle the conversation with your outgoing provider if you'd rather not have it.
We have an internal IT team. Can you work alongside them?
Yes. Plenty of firms keep their internal team and use us for out-of-hours cover, specialist projects and the audit-readiness work. That's what co-managed IT is for.
Do you support regulated firms outside fintech, like wealth management or insurance?
Yes. The specifics differ but the pattern is the same: real scrutiny, sensitive client data and a low tolerance for downtime. That's the ground we work on.
Can you give us senior technology direction without hiring a full-time CTO?
Yes. Our fractional CTO service gives you an experienced technology leader who sets strategy, plans budget and gives your board straight advice, at a fraction of the cost of the full-time role.
How do we get started?
It starts with a short discovery call. We learn about your business, point you to the best first opportunity and suggest a practical next step, with no obligation.
